Homestays (living in the home of an American family) are an excellent way to immerse yourself into American culture, understand the customs of the United States, practice your English, and have a direct support system to help you adapt to the cultural differences between your home country and the U.S. Colorado School of English arranges for you to stay with a family that lives near the school. The host family will help you to get acquainted with the American way of life.
Homestays are available for our full-time students.
We encourage you to interact with the host family as much as possible. Such interactions can include eating your meals with them, going on weekend excursions in the city, and exploring the beautiful areas around Denver. It is also a way for you to immerse yourself in the language and learn how to converse comfortably in English.
You will have your own private bedroom and two meals per day.
The homestay fee is $650 to $800 per month (depending on the location) and can be paid directly to the family. We believe that your experience with a host family will enrich your time here and help you to practice your English outside of class.
We can also arrange a pick-up at the airport. The fee is $75.
If you are interested in having a host family, you will need to complete the host family application so that we can match your preferences with a family that will be right for you. There is a non-refundable application fee of $190. This money should be paid to Colorado School of English, along with the homestay application. Payment can be made by check, money order, credit card, or wire transfer. Please see the I-20 information page for wire transfer and credit card payment options.
*** If you are a family that lives near our school and would be interested in being a host family for students, please contact our school for more information.
